Chucks

Lightweight Air Chuck - Force5

Tidland leads again with the new Force5 Lightweight Air Chuck. Count the 5 reasons for Force5:
  • Lightest Weight
  • Greatest Gripping Force
  • Most Durable
  • Easy Core Insertion & Removal for 6" ID cores
  • Lowest Cost

Tidland's new Force5 air chuck offers the lightweight alternative to aluminum chucks. Paired with Tidland's Ultrashaft composite air shafts or composite mandrels, you can safely change rolls from 3" ID cores to 6" ID cores. The specially-engineered polymer expanding element is not only designed for high durability in extreme conditions, but retains its shape over time for ease of insertion and removal.

Air Chuck

Rugged, high-torque air chucks designed for winding and unwinding with shafts or in shaftless applications. Tidland air chucks are economical and lightweight. They have established a reputation in the industry for reliable, non-slip grip that affords maximum roll control and permits the running of machines at maximum speed. They grip a wide area of the inside wall of the core with a firm, even pressure that prevents slippage and increases core life.

Tidland air chucks are of a lightweight, yet durable construction. The chucks consist of three basic parts - a metals body, an end cap, and an elastomeric air expanding element or tire. The metal parts are cast in tough, durable, lightweight aluminum alloy. The elastomeric elements are made of unique compounds with a permanently molded-in valve fitting. The special compounds have been selected for their hard-wearing, long-lasting qualities, and overall durability.

Tidland air chucks are available in diameters to fit 4" (102mm) to 20" (508mm) ID cores and can be used both with shafts or in shaftless applications.

Air-Powered Lug Chuck

Designed for continuous use on shaftless unwind stands, especially splicers, in heavy-duty operations where extreme torque and weight are handled, such as the corrugating, paperboard, and heavy converting industries. The Air- Powered Lug Chuck provides a clean, simple, dependable operation.

All moving parts are housed in a precision-cast alloy steel body, making this unit rugged and reliable. The gripping lugs expand equally from within the chuck body. They are activated by direct and continuous connection to in-plant compressed air via rotary union.

Available for 3" (76mm), 4" (102mm), and 6" (152mm) ID rolls.

Torque Chuck

The Series 'T' Torque Chuck from Tidland Corporation has an automatic, resource-free core grip that actuates on its own without operator action. The automatic jaws are self-retracting with a ribbed surface that grips securely without core penetration or deformation, thus allowing cores to be reused. These jaws, constructed of alloy steel, provide a uniform radial grip, effectively utilizing 360 degrees of core engagement. With a combination of existing web tension and reliable construction, the Series 'T' Torque Chuck creates unequaled torque capacity making it ideal for the Corrugating, Paperboard, and heavy Converting industries. For use on applications with constant single direction torque.

Mechanical Chuck

Designed for shaftless unwind stands, and preferably for use in operations using rolls with fibre or metal cores. Rugged and heavy-duty, the mechanical chuck has proven in the field to be superior in performance to any mechanical chuck now available on the market. On rewind stands, lugs should always be contained in a core or roll when rotating.

Precision-casted in alloy steel makes this chuck virtually indestructible. Unlike other mechanical chucks, the Tidland design has a pressure flange located on its inboard end. The lugs will not expand until the chuck bottoms in your roll. This design ensures that the lugs will not grip until the chuck is fully inserted in the core. Torque capacity of these chucks is limited only by the machine power and strength of the core material. However, no chuck, not even the Tidland mechanical chuck, can provide non-slip grip in soft or poorly wound rolls. The condition of the roll is important to ensure uniform non-slip grip.

Available for 3" (76mm) and 4" (102mm) ID core wound rolls. And, mounting is simple on existing backstands. Merely by bolting on through the mounting flange - - - the installation takes only 5 minutes.
