Another
Mark Andy/KTI Installation

Aldus
has installed another Mark
Andy press, combined with a KTI
turret rewinder at an undisclosed Australian location.
The client required a press that was user friendly,
quick change, and more importantly, a “real work horse” to
keep up with their increasing demands.
Several small format presses were being considered,
before finally deciding on the Mark
Andy 10” Scout.
With a 40” unwind, removable print units, quick
release Harper anilox rolls, controlled web tension and three die
slots as standard, it was the ideal press to tend to their
requirements.
To help increase the efficiency of the press, the
client also combined a KTI, JR turret rewind from Keene Technology
(KTI).
Fully optioned with Automatic core and tail gluing,
dancer tension control and roll eject assist, continuous winding
is made easily and efficiently. Finished rolls are consistent,
which was a demand from the end user.
Having been specified with 1”, 1.5” and 3” cores,
gives the flexibility in offering their customers any format they
require. Changing the shafts takes only a few minutes.
Combining the Scout and KTI has given the client an
advantage in producing finished rolls in line, minimising the
normal lead times required, which also impacts on their
scheduling.
“Working with Aldus made the installation smooth as
silk. Everything ran like clockwork, from the time the machine
arrived, until we signed off on the press and rewinder. In-fact,
with Bob Marshall leading the way, Aldus had the machines up and
running, in production, within four days. We even had the Trucolor
vision system we also purchased, installed on another press during
that time”.
Operators remarked, “The registration of the Scout is
remarkable. Print to print and print to die register is spot on,
and setting the print is very easy, enabling us to print very
sharp images, especially small text. We are all excited”.
This
is another combined Mark Andy / KTI installation that are becoming
a very popular combination in Australia
and New Zealand.
